WE HAVE A NEW NAME!
It only took 10 months from start to finish to select a new name to replace Kids Count Too! Out of about 20 suggestions, 5 names were chosen and pared down to 2 possible selections by the Board. These then were sent out to volunteers, parents, mentors and supporters through a Survey Monkey vote.
Because Kids Grieve
was selected with the Tag line
“Journeying with Mourning Children and Teens.”
Lots more will be rolled out with new graphics, an updated mission and vision statements, and new focus and energy to accomplish the tasks of supporting children and teens throughout South Idaho from Eastern Idaho to the Treasure Valley.
Our Facebook page has changed its name and we will have a new email names coming soon.
Any child old enough to love is old enough to grieve. In the midst of their own grieving, parents may not realize how their children are feeling. They may hide their grief because they blame themselves, are afraid, or are hiding anger. Recovering from a loss takes time and it has been shown that community is essential to help children get back their lives. Kids Count Too has day camps and after school events that bring grieving children and their mentors together. We also hold an overnight camp in the beautiful Southern Idaho hills. Every child has a "buddy". They become involved with each other and realize that they aren't the only ones who are hurting. Kids that would not communicate or participate in group sessions end up as part of the group, smiling and opening up. What happens affects their lives for the good in contrast to the undesirable lasting effects of ignoring the grief crisis.
